The iPad 3 is not going to launch this year at least, we all know that, but according to a new report by WSJ, Apple is all set to launch said device in early 2012.
The main characteristic of the device, which is the iPad 3 of course, remains the same, and its something which we’ve been hearing about for a long time; it will have a Retina Display. And quite surprisingly, according to a report yesterday, the Retina Display was the reason Apple might not launch the iPad 3 this year.
WSJ on the other hand said that Apple might instead launch the iPad 3 in early 2012, which sounds like a more feasible launch date compared to the one which we’ve heard for a long time, this fall.
At many occasions we’ve raised this point and think that Apple will not in any case release a brand new iPad 3 this year at least for a wide variety of reasons. The first one being the Retina Display for the iPad itself, who is going to make it? A display with a pixel count so high that it classifies itself as Retina Display, has it been engineered already? And secondly, what about battery life? The high resolution Retina Display is going to kill battery rather quickly, and also, a better processor is needed to draw those extra pixels on the screen.
We’re quite certain that Apple will eventually work out the obstacles one day or the other and of course bless us with an iPad 3 with a Retina Display, won’t they?
